We have two, large comfortable lounges for Residents to spend time in and a conservatory that looks out over the front garden. Group activities usually take place in the lounges with an activity in each lounge most afternoons.
There are televisions and wi-fi streamed music in both lounges.
The conservatory is a peaceful area where Residents may prefer to spend some quiet time reading their paper or chatting with friends. It is also an excellent place for Residents to receive their visitors.
We very much encourage visits from family and friends and visitors are welcome at any time.
Many of our Residents have family and friends in different parts of the country or across the world. We have wi-fi throughout the home so keeping in touch using Skype or social media is very much an option.
Rooms and facilities
Normanton has 21 ensuite bedrooms. Every room has a 24-hour nurse call system. No two bedrooms are the same, just as our Residents are all individuals, and we encourage Residents to bring photographs, ornaments and small items of furniture with them so that their room becomes their own.
We have a hairdressing room at Normanton and Louise comes every Wednesday and Friday mornings to make sure that everyone’s hair is done just as they like it.
Normanton has a lovely garden that is beautifully maintained by George. It is an excellent spot for Residents to enjoy the sunshine, grow some flowers, take some exercise or just watch the world go by.
Life with us
We believe that it is hugely important for our Residents to continue to do the activities that have always been important to them once they have moved into Normanton.
Our Residents attend church services, go to town shopping, meet their friends and families for lunch and enjoy afternoon teas and the odd slice of cake just as they have always done.
We also provide a wide range of daily activities and warmly invite any Resident that wishes to, to join in. Sue is our dedicated activities coordinator and ensures that there is something going on most afternoons. Residents’ Meetings take place quarterly and give all Residents an opportunity to have a say in what goes on at Normanton.
Activities range from bingo to quizzes, music and movement to ‘Play Your Cards Right’, knitting and craft sessions to singalong and sherry mornings, and we make every effort to ensure that activities are tailored to suit a range of tastes and abilities.
We also have regular church services within the home and a host of outside entertainment.
In addition to regular small parties to celebrate Residents’ birthdays, we have a summer barbecue and a Christmas party every year to which all friends and family are warmly invited.
