Mary is originally from Co. Cork in Ireland but arrived in Shrewsbury in 1967, attending school here before starting her nurse training at the old RSI. Ken is from Westbury and enjoyed a successful building career before becoming a residential homeowner.

Ken and Mary’s daughter Samantha joined the business in 1995 after completing her training as a psychiatric nurse at Shelton Hospital. She had previously completed an MSc in Criminology at Cardiff University.

As a family-owned and family-run independent care home, Normanton has always been more than a business. Mary and Samantha are available at the home between the hours of 7.30am and 4.00pm, then either Mary or Sam are on call at night from their house within the grounds. This means that you can be assured of an immediate response to any query directly from the home’s owners.

Normanton is a community, which aims to do its utmost to support its members. We pride ourselves on striking the correct balance between supporting and helping our Residents when they need it while also encouraging them to have full, interesting and active lives.
